Sarah Abbott BA(Hons) CT ABRSM
Bournemouth based Clarinet & Saxophone Teacher & Player
Welcome to my website.
What can I say about myself? Well, I started recorder at the age of about 6, I think. My parents bought me my first clarinet as an early 9th birthday present, so I then started lessons. My clarinet teacher at the time, Tim Spencer, suggested that I also learnt the piano, so at the age of 10, I started taking lessons.
I didn’t get my first saxophone until I was 13. I was working towards grade 7 clarinet at the time, and my Dad said that if I passed, he would buy me a saxophone. So I did pass, and he bought me my first sax, a Buffet Evette. Regretfully, I never took sax lessons until I was at music college. (University of East Anglia).
I graduated from college in 1994 with a BA (Hons) in music, and started up a private teaching business. Within a few months, I was also teaching clarinet & saxophone in local schools, and have been doing so ever since. I teach all standards and all ages.
In September 1996, I studied for the Certificate of Teaching by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and gained the certificate (CT ABRSM) the following summer.
